A recent study conducted for the renewable energy recruitment sector reveals that investments in clean energy technology have driven the demand for new workers across every region worldwide. Despite this surge, a shortage of skilled labor has emerged as a significant barrier to scaling up activity.
The report highlights that global energy employment reached 67 million people in 2022, marking a 3.2 million increase from pre-pandemic levels. According to a recent survey, the solar sector remains the largest employer, with over 4 million jobs.
Clean energy jobs currently account for nearly half of the total share of the energy sector workforce. However, the number of workers pursuing degrees or certifications relevant to energy sector jobs is not keeping pace with the growing demand.
